I arrived in Bangkok on January 15th at 3 pm. There was a four hour delay in Hong Kong as Cathay Pacific engineers tried to fix the plane I was sitting on, finally they relented and the crew and all the passengers including me disembarked the plane for a new plane. We finally took off from the airport after 12:30 pm, the flight was supposed to leave at 9:10 am.
The first thing you notice in Thailand is the heat and humidity. While the humidity is still very high, the heat is not too bad yet. I have another six weeks or so until the temperature goes into the hundreds. We'll see how long I last outdoors as the days get hotter.

One side of the reception hall |
I decided to go to On's customer's daughter's wedding reception at the Ambassador Hotel in downtown Bangkok. While it was a very vague connection, I wasn't the only one there who didn't personally know the bride and groom. The reception hall was enormous and filled with guests, at least 1000 of them.
Above is a picture of me in front of the faux wedding cake, that's right the wedding cake was not real cake. There was a small real cake behind the faux wedding cake for the bride and groom to cut, but that was it. No cake for the guests. And there was also two swans and heart ice sculpture behind me in the middle of the reception hall. To the left is a picture of me with On, the bride, groom, bride's grandmother, father and mother.
The food at the wedding was interesting. I went to southeast Asia willing to try new things and what did I end up trying. Well the first course of the meal was three different appetizers, one was jelly fish and I have no idea what was in the other two dishes. The next course was shark fin soup. The entire had nine courses and a menu that came in English. I still did not recognize half the dishes that were served, but all the food was interesting and bamboo pith soup was actually delicious.
