I arrived in Bangkok on March 5th at On's house, I had let her know I was coming a day before and being very gracious she said, "No problem." I took at tuk tuk from the train station to her house. The next morning I left bright and early and headed over to the bus station and hopped on the bus to Trat, Thailand. It was a 6 hour bus ride, but it was very nice. The bus had a/c, a steward to serve snacks and drinks and a bathroom. Most of the other foreigners on the bus got off at the stop for Kho Chang island, but I stayed on until Trat. I took the small minibus from Trat to Hak Lek, Thailand, there was only two other foreigners on the bus, Heinz and Proust from Switzerland. We all got our Cambodian visas, it was the first time I had been ripped off by officials in Southeast Asia. They charged us 1300 Baht instead of 1000 Baht, but such is life. Then we took a cab to Koh Krong, Cambodia, which is about 10 minutes away from the border post.
The bus ride from Koh Krong to Sihounkville took 4 hours and was filled with other foreigners. While riding the bus I met two British couples who were retired and took trips all around the world. I also met Steve, an Australian. He helped me out after we left the bus in Sihounkville, since he had lived there for the past 6 weeks. I met up with Steve and his friend Karen, from Holland, and we played trivia at a bar, which was really fun!
I met up with Arro, an American I had met in Laos, to go snorkeling for the first time in my life in Sihounkville. It was a lot of fun to do and was a really beautiful day! I also saw Karen again and hung out with her, read a lot of books and really enjoyed more downtime on the Cambodian coast!
