Madame Xuyen took Hoa and me to a farm run by a Catholic nun. The farm is in Vientiane and grows beautiful vegetables, raises pigs and cows and fish, and has many children living on it, helping work and getting an education. We went to pick up some cow dung for Madame Xuyen’s soil in her garden, and ended up staying to get a tour of the farm and the facilities on the farm. The woman who runs the farm is a Vietnamese nun who speaks French, English, Lao and Vietnamese. Sister Catherine is her name and she has created something wonderful. The children on her farm and very friendly and helpful and it was really nice to see both the organization of the farm and the kindness of the nuns who run the farm.
